Russian officials suspected of embezzling funds allocated for XIV forum of Kazakhstan and Russia
Almaty. January 25. KazTAG - Mikhail Smirnov, deputy of Council of Central district of Chelyabinsk, and Anton Bakhayev, first deputy minister of economic development of Chelyabinsk region, are suspected of funds embezzlement allocated for XIV forum of Kazakhstan and Russia, reports TASS.
"According to investigation, Smirnov jointly with Bakhayev and Olga Aleinikova, director of international cooperation agency, embezzled 3.8 mln rubles from the regional budget in 2017 allocated for organization of XIV forum of interregional cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan," reads the message.
M. Smirnov was taken in custody. A. Bakhayev had been charged and then dismissed from state service.
The forum was held in Chelyabinsk on November 9 2017 involving Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Putin.
