“We plan to increase our passenger traffic to over 5.5 million per year in 2025. From 2030, we will switch to operating wide-body Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 aircraft. This date is due to the fact that the queue for the delivery of wide-body aircraft from Boeing Corporation is full until 2030,” Denisov said at a government meeting.
According to him, the new passenger terminal in Shymkent was put into operation in December 2024, the area is 40 thousand square meters and the area is 7 hectares.
This helped to provide 10 additional parking spaces for aircraft at the airport. A taxiway was built and put into operation, the station parking lot for 80 parking spaces was reconstructed. The terminal's capacity increased to 16 aircraft per hour.
"The next stage is the creation of an air hub in Shymkent. We will also service and repair engine types, which will be the first time in our republic. Next, a new runway will be built, in continuation of the existing one. Then the construction of a cargo terminal with a hangar area," Denisov added.
