Second round of Presidential election in Afghanistan may be postponed until June
Almaty. May 12. KazTAG - The second round of Presidential elections in Afghanistan may be postponed until June, reports the Afghanistan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG).
"The observers criticized the work on commission for electors’ complaints for taking decisions behind the closed doors," reads the message.
Officials expelled mass media and observers from the room while taking the final decisions. The commission considered 900 out of 2000 complaints which might directly affect the elections results, the results were also declared late. The commission is expected to send its results to the independent electoral commission to announce the final results.
As reported, Abdulla Abdulla, ex Minister of Foreign Affairs, took lead in the presidential race getting 44.9% of votes, second one is Adhraf Gani Akhmadzai, ex Minister of Finance with 31.5% of votes, Zalmay Rasul, ex head of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is the third- 11.5%.
