Situation is stabilizing in the West Kazakhstan

Astana. April 26. KazTAG - The situation in the West Kazakhstan region is stabilizing, reports the Central Communications Service under the President.
“The situation in the West Kazakhstan region is stabilizing. According to morning data, the water level in the Zhaiyk River was 850 cm, having decreased by 4 cm. According to experts, the water level is gradually decreasing,” reads the report.
According to the head of the press service of the WKO akim, Erkhan Tatken, 13,980 people, including 5,782 children, have been evacuated since the beginning of the flood.
“To date, 2,487 people have been accommodated in 12 evacuation points in the region. The necessary things and food are delivered to them in a timely manner. Medical examinations of citizens are carried out on an ongoing basis,” Tatken said at a briefing at the Central Communications Service.
Citizens affected by the flood are being provided with one-time social assistance from the local budget.
“To date, more than T561 million has been paid to 1,541 people. Work in this direction will continue,” the speaker added.
Humanitarian assistance was also provided by the regions and other foreign countries in the amount of KZT337 million.
“In total, about 11 thousand people and more than 2 thousand pieces of equipment are involved in flood control measures in the region. The situation is currently under control. Duty is being maintained in the Akzhaiyk, Burlinsky, Baiterek, Terektinsky districts of the region and the city of Uralsk. In the region along the Zhaiyk River, 142 km of dams have been built,” Tatken said.
