“The State Duma of Russia on Wednesday, March 24, adopted in the third reading the amendments bringing the electoral legislation in line with the new norms of the Constitution. Among other things, the amendments give the current President Vladimir Putin the right to run twice more for the presidency. Thus, according to the bill, the presidency can be held for no more than two terms, but this restriction "does not apply to those who held the post of head of state before the amendments to the Constitution came into force," reads the statement.
Putin said at a press conference in December 2020 that he has not yet decided whether to run again in 2024.
