“District police inspectors - Police Major Kanat Parmanov and Police Captain Yerlan Kosaliev were at their administrative site. Passing the pawnshop located on Ashimov Street, they heard a woman's scream. At that time, two men armed with a pistol and a knife ran out of the pawnshop, seeing the police officers they tried to escape. Pre-trial investigation has been initiated under paragraph 1 of part 2 of article 192 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The suspects have been arrested.
“Both suspects are residents of the Zhambyl region, they arrived in Almaty with the purpose of criminal earnings. One of them had already been convicted of robbery. Another accomplice in the attack was prosecuted for causing grievous harm to human health," reads the report.
