Territory of Kazakhstan weakly covered by hydro meteorological monitoring due to low salary of meteorologists
Astana. May 15. KazTAG - The territory of Kazakhstan is weakly covered by hydro-meteorological monitoring due to low salary of meteorologists, said Bektas Mukhamedzhanov, Vice Minister of Environment and Water Resources.
"The minimal requirements to meteorological monitoring coverage should include: 421 meteorological stations, 15 aerological stations and 280 agrometeorological points," reads the written reply of B. Mukhamedzhanov to KazTAG request.
According to the message the coverage of Kazakhstani territory by meteorological monitoring makes 71%; agrometeorological monitoring- 72%, hydrological monitoring- 59%.
According to the message Kazhydromet is experiencing deficit of qualified staff," due to specificity of the profession, relatively low salary in comparison to other economy branches".
"The salary of chief meteorologist-engineer with higher education in Kazhydromet department of Almaty is up to 97 000 tenge, deputy director of a branch- up to 146 000 tenge depending on the work experience," reads the letter.
