The government of Kazakhstan opened the borders to meat exports to neighboring countries without taking measures to prevent a beef deficit in Kazakhstan, and did not take into account the rise in prices for fuel and lubricants and spare parts for agricultural machinery.
Due to the export of beef on such a huge scale, producers and markets began to inflate the price. Beef has become more expensive than horse meat.
There is also an acute shortage of slaughterhouses in Kazakhstan. There may be only one or two slaughterhouses for one district, about 300 km long, which significantly complicates the development of regional agricultural sectors.
