Tokayev and Mirziyoyev conducted talks in restricted attendance
Astana. April 15. KazTAG - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev have conducted talks in restricted attendance, reports Akorda.
“After the official welcoming ceremony, the heads of state held talks in a narrow format,” reads the message.
Tokayev thanked Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and hospitality, and marked the importance of the visit.
“Our first president, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, has made a great contribution to building strong and harmonious bilateral relations. And you, as presidents, as leaders of two states, have brought Kazakhstan-Uzbek cooperation to a very high level," he said.
The head of state highly appreciated the quality and content of bilateral cooperation, and also noted the fruitful exchange of views on all issues outlined in the negotiation agenda.
“My task is to preserve the continuity and high dynamics of our relations. For my part, I will do everything possible so that Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation develops without any obstacles. Yesterday we shared the views on a number of points: political, historical, cultural, humanitarian. They came to understand that in historical terms our peoples have a lot in common. We are united by a common historical fate, kindred languages, one religion and similar cultural values, ” said Tokayev.
He also thanked the President of Uzbekistan for the opportunity to hold the Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan, noting its great importance in terms of the rapprochement of people of two states.
In turn, Mirziyoyev congratulated Tokayev on assuming the office of the president of Kazakhstan and thanked for making a state visit to Uzbekistan.
