Tokayev met with the heads of the Foreign Ministries of the SCO

Astana. May 21. KazTAG – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries - reported Akorda press service.

“Opening the event, the head of state, on behalf of Kazakhstan, the current chairman of the SCO, as well as on his own behalf, expressed deep condolences to the entire people and leadership of Iran in connection with the tragic death of the president and foreign minister of this country,” - the statement said on Tuesday.

Tokayev noted that the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of States is one of the most important formats of the SCO for resolving current issues on a broad agenda.

He expressed gratitude to the participating countries for their support of Kazakhstani initiatives and fruitful joint work.

President noted more than 100 large-scale events were held, including the SCO digital, tourism and energy forums.

According to him in conditions of global strategic uncertainty, the use of an integrated approach, taking into account the interests of all parties and the constant search for compromises is of particular importance.

The head of state believes that the time has come to collectively promote the ideals and values of peaceful and harmonious development for the sake of all humanity.

As noted in the president’s speech, the work to increase the SCO’s potential in overcoming common challenges and threats has become very timely.

The President also touched upon cybersecurity issues.

He believes that the main emphasis in this work should be on the early identification of cyber threats and the development of mechanisms to ensure the stable functioning of the information infrastructure of the SCO countries.
