Tokayev received the Chairman of the National Security Committee

Astana. May 23. KazTAG – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Chairman of the National Security Committee Yermek Sagimbayev and heard a report on the main results since the beginning of the year and upcoming tasks, the press service of Akorda reports.

In the sphere of state security, 43 people were convicted for involvement in terrorism and religious extremism. Pre-trial investigations are ongoing against another 34 people. Attempts to enter Kazakhstan by 212 foreigners associated with terrorist and extremist activities were prevented. Entry into the country is prohibited for 1,498 foreign radicals. In addition, 12 foreign citizens who were wanted internationally for committing terrorist and extremist crimes were identified.

As part of the fight against crime, the activities of 13 organized criminal groups were suppressed, 142 of their members were detained, 40 of whom were arrested. 282 units of firearms, 48 ​​grenades and more than 4.5 thousand rounds of ammunition were confiscated. 12 drug labs were liquidated, and 13 international and 12 regional drug trafficking channels were blocked. In total, over 3.2 tons of drugs and 7.5 tons of precursors were confiscated.

In the area of ​​combating corruption, illegal activities of 15 officials representing government and law enforcement agencies were identified and stopped. Thanks to the measures taken, it was possible to prevent damage to the state budget in the amount of T1.6 trillion, of which T220 billion has already been reimbursed.

In the area of ​​state border protection and cybersecurity, more than 16 thousand offenders were detained, 3,025 foreign citizens were expelled from the country. Over 600 attempts to illegally transport weapons, ammunition, drugs and other prohibited items were stopped. It was also possible to prevent the illegal export of currency worth T11 billion and goods worth T16.6 billion. More than 796 million cyber attacks on information systems of government agencies were successfully repelled.

Following the report, the head of state gave a number of specific instructions in the area of ​​national security.
