Tokayev: There is legal injustice, growing gap between rich and poor

Astana. March 29. KazTAG - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes that there is a legal injustice in the country, while the gap between the rich and the poor is growing.
“We have a vital task ahead of us – to boost the pace of comprehensive modernization and make a breakthrough in socio-economic development. Our country has long relied on favorable external conditions. We believed in various concepts and programs, we trusted far-fetched reports of imaginary successes. But the most important, fundamental things were left without due attention: the standard of living is still low, legal injustice is taking place, and the gap between the rich and the poor is growing. In the next five years, the government and deputies have faced the task of solving these basic problems,” Tokayev said at the first session of the Parliament of of the VIII convocation on Wednesday.
He noted that Kazakhstan “needs urgent overhaul”.
“The systemic problems in the economy and social sphere that have accumulated over the years require decisive action. Therefore, unpopular, but effective and necessary decisions will have to be made,” said the president
“There is no other way, otherwise we will scatter our efforts and waste the available resources. The next five years will be decisive for our country,” the President said.
