Traffic accident in Shamalgan: traffic jam at level crossing formed 30 minutes before collision of train and bus

Astana. September 17. KazTAG - The traffic jam at the level crossing of a bus and a train formed 30 minutes before the collision of the train and the bus in Shamalgan, reports the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Kazakhstan.
"The investigation has revealed that the congestion has formed at about 18.30 in both directions. The restrictive signal of the traffic lights activated at 19.05, the alarming signal set off about the train approach. There was motor transport on the railways, including the bus. The bus could not drive off to a safe area as there were other vehicles in front and behind it. The bus driver opened the doors in order to evacuate the passengers. The electric locomotive collided with the bus, it was evacuated to depot of Almaty-1 station and replaced, the train continued the journey at 22.00. The investigative group is working on the scene," reads the message.
The bus driver died on the scene. Three bus passengers were hospitalized with various traumas.
