Trumov acknowledged impact of Rixos hotel on the shortage of drinking water in Mangystau

Aktau. June 14. KazTAG - Akim of Mangistau region Serikbay Trumov acknowledged the impact of the construction of hotels and resort areas on the shortage of drinking water in the region, Radio Azattyk reports.
The “Kaspiy” plant desalinates from 17 to 20 thousand cubic meters of water per day. This is mainly for the water supply of the Munaily region, which needs up to 14 thousand cubic meters per day. Another two thousand cubic meters - to the settlement of Kuryk, another two thousand - to objects on the coast. Among them is the Rixos hotel, which takes 500-700 cubic meters daily. But gradually, with the development of tourism on the coast, water consumption is expected to increase. When other facilities under construction are over, their demand will increase to 10,000 cubic meters per day, ” he said.
According to him, in order to resolve the issue of drinking water supply, Aktau is going to increase the capacity of the Kaspiy plant for desalination up to 40 thousand cubic meters. For this, T7.7 billion has been allocated from the republican budget. The total project cost of the facility is T11 billion.
“By the end of the year the works will finish. We are also installing additional desalination plants for the Munaily region,” he added.
