Astana. April 11. KazTAG - A tumor weighing more than 1 kg has been removed to a newborn in Almaty, reports the press service of the Health Care Ministry of Kazakhstan.
“Specialists of the Almaty Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery Center successfully conducted a most complicated operation for a newborn to remove a congenital tumor weighing more than a kilogram with intensive intrauterine growth. The giant tumor was 1028 grams. Specialists discovered the sacro-coccygeal teratoma intrauterinely on the 19ht week, the tumor had areas of skin erosion, squeezing the rectum and actively pulsating due to the high supply of blood vessels, creating the risk of massive bleeding, " said the report.
The department said that after complicated labor the newborn was transported from the maternity hospital to the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery for a planned operation.
“The surgical operation was made on the third day from the moment of birth, as the condition of the newborn who was 3818 grams in weight required a certain medical preparation. The surgery lasted for more than 3 hours and passed without complications, reads the message.
