Unnecessary rush raised around "Irony of Fate" film - Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan
Almaty. January 4. KazTAG - Unnecessary rush has been raised around the film by Eldar Ryazanov "The Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath", said Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander.
“Unfortunately, in my opinion, unnecessary rush was raised around the film. Since young age, each of us watched this comedy, which is considered to be a New Year's fairy tale, which is full of warm moments, it has an interesting plot, humor, and each person can perceive it in his own way. What the Ryazan Metropolitan declared is his personal point of view, I do not share it, " he said commenting on the rush to KazTAG.
At the same time, he recommended watching films calling for good and teaching mercy.
“I will not name the entire list (films that can be recommended for watching - KazTAG). Films that call for good, that teach mercy, films that speak of love, teach positive things, human feelings in a person," he added.
The site of Ryazan Diocese posted a New Year video message of Metropolitan Mark of Ryazan in which he criticized the values embodied in the film and called the idea of the film contrary to Christian attitudes. The statement of the metropolitan provoked a strong response among the public. Later, the official representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, Vladimir Legoyda, stated that the critic of the Ryazan Metropolitan is his private position and stressed that “The Irony of Fate” is an excellent and kind New Year's fairy tale loved by millions of viewers, but like any work of art, people may enjoy or not enjoy it, including the Metropolitan.
