US army recruits speakers of Ukrainian language to military service

Almaty. February 11. KazTAG - The US military forces have resolved the problem of mutual understanding between soldiers under performance of cooperation program with the Ukrainian side. According to the press-service of Pentagon, this financial year which started in the US on October 1 2014 the US army recruited 100 recruits speaking the Ukrainian language.
The vacancies for them were opened within the frameworks of the program entitled Military Accessions Vital to National Interests-MAVNI. The program was launched more than 10 years ago, last year it was extended for 2015 and 2016. It is aimed to provide army vacancies on different specialties, not only foreign languages, but also medicines and even religion.
The press service said that recruitment of Ukrainian language speakers was not dictated by any "strategic need" but was a constituent part of staff work.
The press service confirmed that specialists recruitment within the MAVNI program is conducted on exclusive conditions: there is no need for claimants to have American citizenship or residency permit. It is enough to be able-bodies, have no serious problems with the law, speak colloquial English and pass standard army check. The recruits are aged 17-34.
