US ready to work with Kazakhstan for international assistance to other states
Astana. May 11. KazTAG - The US is ready to cooperate with Kazakhstan for international assistance in Afghanistan and other countries, said William Burns, Deputy Secretary of State.
"We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with Kazakhstan, no matter if it will be support for the northern distribution network or an effort to accelerate economic development in Afghanistan. Kazakhstan is currently working on creation of its own international assistance agency, we are anxious to cooperate and work closely altogether in Afghanistan and beyond", he said at a press conference in Astana.
The official noted that he discussed with the Kazakh authorities further steps on transition in Afghanistan and issues on keeping long-term support to the positive development of Afghanistan.
"We are still ready to sign a bilateral agreement on security issues, which allow a certain number of US troops to stay in Afghanistan as trainers, advisors and assistants ", he said.
