Uzbekistan is among the priority directions of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy - Tokayev
Almaty. April 15. KazTAG - Uzbekistan is among priority directions of the foreign policy of Kazakhstan, said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, president of Kazakhstan.
"Since the first days of independence Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have been going hand by hand supporting each other in difficult moments and being glad for the successes. We have established solid and harmonic relations and the main task is prosperity of two states. The leading role in strengthening of strategic partnership between the states was played by first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The leader of nation has been focused on development of relations with the closest neighbors, for this reason your state is in the category of priority directions of the foreign policy of Kazakhstan," he said in the interview to the National News Agency of Uzbekistan.
He reminded now the main tasks are expansion of trade-economic ties and deepening of border cooperation.
"Our states have huge potentials in these fields. The Governments of two states have the task to boost the volume of mutual trade to $5 bn by 2020. There are huge perspectives of partnership in the transit-transport field. Kazakhstan has no access to the sea and its primary task is to improve transit infrastructure and develop transport cooperation with other states," said Tokayev.
