Wheat and rice sowing areas will be reduced in 2015
Astana. January 30. KazTAG - Wheat and rice sowing areas will be reduced in Kazakhstan in 2015, said Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Minister of Agriculture.
"According to preliminary data, the crops will cover 21.5 mln hectares. Grain crops will cover 15.2 mln hectares, including 12.2 mln hectares of wheat," he said.
He added the sowing of wheat and rice will be reduced.
"Wheat sowing will be reduced by 235 000 hectares year on year, rice- by 8500 hectares, oil bearing crops will cover 2.2 mln hectares, fodder- 3.7 mln hectares, melons and potatoes at 414 thousand hectares," he concluded.
