“The famous marathon runner, the Guinness Book of Records record holder, the pride of Kazakhstan, Marat Zhylanbayev has been arrested and taken away in an unknown direction during a rally," said a message on Sunday.
The detention of Zhylanbayev by unidentified persons had previously been captured by TV cameras -he was seized at the moment when he was answering journalists' questions on the air.
The incident took place in the area where rallies of those who disagree with the elections to the Majilis were planned on January 10.
