“As a result of the monitoring of the Kazakhstan segment of the Internet space, three large platforms for the sale of drugs were identified with a total number of participants of almost 35 thousand people. It was possible to identify almost 10 thousand people who are potential drug users. The analysis showed that more than 50% of consumers are in Astana, Almaty and Almaty region,” the report said.
AFM clarified that it monitors the global network, which covers Telegram messenger channels, social networks, and ad services for the distribution of narcotic drugs and precursors.
“About 300 messenger channels and the four largest Darknet marketplaces where prohibited drugs are sold came into view. “80 users of Telegram channels were established and identified, who constantly advertised and were also involved in the sale of narcotic and psychotropic substances in the country,” the statement said.
The agency added that in 2023, 36 drug stores with a turnover of KZT25.6 billion were identified.
