Astana. April 18. KazTAG – Almost 7 thousand houses and courtyards remain flooded in Kazakhstan, reports the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
“5,718 private residential buildings and 1,130 courtyard areas remain flooded in Akmola, Aktobe, Kostanay, Atyrau, and North Kazakhstan regions,” the report said.
According to the department, the flood in the republic is currently occurring at a stable and intense level.
“In flood-prone regions, emergency rescue operations, anti-flood measures, and liquidation of flood consequences continue. Thanks to the anti-flood measures, 18,651 people returned to their homes. Thanks to operational measures, residents and animals were evacuated from emergency zones in advance. In total, since the beginning of the flood, 117,694 people have been rescued and evacuated, including 43,931 children. 113,852 farm animals were driven to a safe place,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
6,887 people remain in evacuation centers including 3,166 are children. Water was diverted from 4,216 residential buildings and 2,698 courtyard areas.
“Over 10.1 million cubic meters of melt water were pumped out, more than 3.2 million bags and 1.4 million tons of inert material were laid,” the statement said.
