Almost 1 million children in Kazakhstan live in poverty - MP

Astana. March 4. KazTAG -.Almost 1 million children in Kazakhstan live in poverty, said Yerlan Smaylov, Majilis deputy.
“Every sixth child, or in total almost 1 million children, lives in poverty indicates the UNICEF study. According to statistics, families with many children suffer the most from poverty, there are more than 340 thousand such families in our country. Single-parent families are also at risk - most often they do not have any social support from the government,  ”Smaylov said.
The decline in real incomes, the rise in prices for priority goods and services, the lack of high-quality and affordable infrastructure for child development impede development of children.
In his opinion,  the current measures to support motherhood and childhood by the state are scattered and not systematized.
He suggested assessing the effectiveness of measures, develop the quality indicators for assessing the performance of state bodies with reference to the development of budget funds and personal responsibility of managers and executives.
