“Arthur Alkhasov, an employee of the Human Rights Bureau in the city of Astana, was supposed to go to an agreed single picket near the building of the Embassy of the Russian Federation. He planned to go out with an anti-war picket. He was detained by the police, he is now in the Baikonur District Department of Internal Affairs,” the message said.
As noted, the bureau did not know where Alkhasov was.
Two employees of the Public Foundation “Yerkindik Kanaty” went to look for him and were also detained and taken to the Baikonur district police department.
“There are no grounds for their detentions. They didn't do anything wrong. There is no administrative offense, no suspicion of a criminal offense. They were just looking for a colleague from the Bureau. This is an absolutely illegal detention,” said Roman Reimer, human rights activist and co-founder of the Erkindik Kanat Public Foundation.
