Ministry of Internal Affairs disagrees with opinion about increase in incidence of criminal prosecution of journalists in Kazakhstan

Astana. April 18. KazTAG – Vice-Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Marat Kozhayev does not agree with the opinion about the increase in cases of criminal prosecution of journalists.
“I won’t say that very often (cases of criminal prosecution of journalists are observed - KazTAG), you probably know all these cases,” Kozhaev said on the sidelines of the Senate on Thursday, answering questions regarding the arrest of journalist Daniyar Adilbekov.
In response to the journalist’s remark that recently cases have been brought against journalists very often, he said: “Maybe this is your personal opinion.”
“For example, there are a lot of different offenses in the country, and the share of crimes committed by your colleagues is minimal,” the vice minister assured.
At the same time, he confirmed that Adilbekov is now under arrest.
