Prosecution requests to condemn oligarch Kairat Boranbayev to eight years in prison

Astana. March 28. KazTAG - The prosecution has requested to condemn the oligarch Kairat Boranbayev to eight years in prison, reports HOLA News Kazakhstan.
“The prosecution requested eight years for Kairat Boranbaev with confiscation of property. For AsiaGazChundzha CEO Roman Nakhanov and former QazaqGaz Deputy Chairman of the Board Tayyr Zhanuzak, they also requested eight years in prison,” the report said.
The defendants are charged with embezzlement of T14.5 billion during the resale of gas.
At the same time, neither the oligarch nor the other two defendants in the case plead guilty.
“According to Boranbayev, an ordinary commercial deal was taken for a crime, and now entrepreneurial profit is being charged as causing material damage to the national company,” said the statement.
