Size of minimum salary should be higher than cost of living - Majilisman

Astana. February 13 KazTAG - The minimum size of salary should be higher than the cost of living, said Aikyn Konurov, Majilis deputy.
“The minimum salary should correlate not only with the average salary, but also with the real cost of living. The minimum salary should be higher than the cost of living, because a person may still have non-working family members. Nominal salary growth in statistics does not change the lives of Kazakhstani people for the better, because the growth rate of the minimum salary is lower than the real rate of inflation, ”said Konurov, voicing his request addressed to Prime Minister Askar Mamin.
In his words, the share of expenses of Kazakhstani people on food is many times greater than in Russia and in developed countries.
“Here, the most eloquent indicator is the share of food costs. In Kazakhstan, it makes up half the family budget for almost 50% of people, this situation is much worse than in neighboring Russia, not to mention developed countries, where expenses on food make only 10-12%. Last year food prices rose by 10%. It means that the minimum salary should grow up much faster so that society feels a real improvement," he said.
