Tasmagambetov joined the board of directors of the Russian automobile corporation PJSC KAMAZ in April 2021, before that, from February 2017 to December 2019, he was the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, from September 2016, he took the post of Deputy Prime Minister. Over the years, he was the prime minister, minister of defense, held the posts of akim of Almaty and Astana, led the presidential administration and held a number of other important public positions.
