United States intends to interact with Kazakhstan to reduce risks of drug trafficking and terrorism

Almaty. June 14. KazTAG - The United States is going to interact with Kazakhstan to reduce the risks of drug trafficking and terrorism after the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, said Zalmay Khalilzad, Special Representative for Reconciliation in Afghanistan.
“President Biden talked about adjusting our counter-terrorism capabilities so that we have a presence in the region and the ability to respond to the difficulties you described (the growth of drug smuggling, weapons and the likely influx of extremists into Central Asia and Kazakhstan after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan - KazTAG), thus, we are looking for cooperation with Afghanistan's neighbours, including Kazakhstan, to take action together and to be able to respond - first to prevent and contain, but if it does not work, then resolve them [these difficulties] promptly, ”he said.
At the same time, he noted that the best way to prevent risks is to create a strong government in Afghanistan.
