2.8 thousand ethnic Kazakhs have received kandas status in Kazakhstan since January

Astana. March 27. KazTAG - 2.8 thousand ethnic Kazakhs have received the status of candas in Kazakhstan since the beginning of 2024, reports the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
“As of March 1, 2024, 2.8 thousand ethnic Kazakhs returned to their historical homeland and received the status of kandas. In total, 1.1311 million ethnic Kazakhs have returned to the republic since 1991,” reads the report.
More than half of the Kandas (49.6%) who arrived in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year are from China, 31.9% are from Uzbekistan, 6.8% from Turkmenistan, 6.5% from Mongolia, 3.9% from Russia and 1.3% from other countries.
