Birtanov sentenced to five years of restraint of liberty

Astana. October 31. KazTAG - Former Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Yelzhan Birtanov was sentenced to five years of restraint of liberty.
“Yelzhan Birtanov is found not guilty of a criminal offense under part 3 of Article 361 (abuse of power) of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the episode of using an air ambulance aircraft and acquitted due to the absence of this criminal offense in his actions. Yelzhan Birtanov  and Olzhas Abishev were found guilty of committing a criminal offense under paragraph 3 of part 4 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” reads the court verdict.
Birtanov was sentenced to five years of restraint of liberty, his former deputy Olzhas Abishev - to four years.
