Construction of steel pipes plant in Almaty estimated to $100 mln

Almaty. April 13. KazTAG- The Chinese investor Asia Steel Pipe Corporation plans to construct a plant of steel welding pipes of large diameter in Almaty until the end of 2018, reports Kazakh Invest national company.
"A plant producing steel welding pipes of a large diameter will be constructed in Almaty by the end of the year. Under support of Kazakh Invest an appropriate investment contract has been signed, within the frameworks of the contract the Chinese investor (affiliated company CNPC) and Kazakh partners will invest $50 mln in the project and create over 300 work places in the region. The project is valued $100 mln," reads the message.
The plant will be placed at 18.3 hectares industrial zone of Alatau district in Almaty. The pipes diameter will make from 355 to 1420 mm.
The plant will substitute 70% import of pipes in Kazakhstan. It will produce up to 100 000 tons of pipes annually. In the future the capacity will be extended to 150 000 tons per annum.
