HPP in Almaty might have been transferred into coal back in 1989 - Olzhas Suleimenov

Almaty. October 21. KazTAG - The heating power station in Almaty might have been transferred into gas back in 1989, said Olzhas Suleimenov, poet.
“It is important to switch from coal to gas. I proposed switching to gas back in 1989, when I was elected in the Supreme Council of the USSR . And if I had been elected from Almaty then, I would have switched to gas then, because then the Supreme Council had very large powers, capacities. But here the authorities voted me out and I was elected in Semipalatinsk. And I fulfilled that order - I stopped the tests at the range. But at the same time, we had to sacrifice the air of Almaty a little, "Suleimenov said.
He noted that the use of coal is beneficial to those who are behind this production.
“They still cannot convert to gas, because coal is the property of some authorities, and it must be burned, it must be consumed at the expense of our lungs, our breath. This problem persists. Until we deal with this, we will never clear the air. Therefore, ecology is also politics," he said.
