Political activist died in pre-trial detention center in Nur-Sultan

Astana. December 26. KazTAG - Dulat Agadil, political activist, has died in the pre-trial detention center in Nur-Sultan, reports the police department.
"Dulat Agadil, born in 1977, has died in the pre-trial detention center in Nur-Sultan. He was charged disrespect to court, assault of a judge and participants of the judicial session," said the message.
The ministry said that “in January of this year he was recognized in absentia as an accused and he was released under recognizance not to leave".
“Due to the failure to appear and evasion of the investigative actions the court ordered to detain him. On February 24 of the current year, at about 9 p.m. D. Agadil was detained in his house and delivered to the pre-trial detention center. In the cell there were four more people who testified that there were facts of the use of violence against him," said the message.
According to the conclusion of the medical examination and according to the department, "at the time of detention, he was intoxicated."
“The death was ascertained by the arrived ambulance team. Preliminary cause of death: "Acute cardiovascular failure." There are no injuries on the body of the deceased. Pre-trial investigation has been initiated," reads the report.
According to the initiator of the creation of the Democratic Party of Kazakhstan, Zhanbolat Mamai, Dulat Agadil was detained a night before.
“The video shows how law enforcement officers took him from home. Agadil was adequate, well-dressed, he didn't look drunk. Then we received the information that a civilian activist died in a pre-trial detention center due to heart problems and that he was intoxicated. I don’t believe a single word of the official department: how can a healthy, young man in his 40s die for no reason?  Not at home, he died in the pre-trial detention center, where the law enforcement officers and the prison’s leadership are responsible for his life, ”he stressed.
Mamai noted that Agadil wasn't a criminal.
“He wasn't a criminal. He was a man with an active civil position, he spoke at rallies, he expressed dissatisfaction with the policies of the regime ( of the first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev - KazTAG). So his death is a political affair. All those involved in the death of Agadil should be brought to criminal liability; moreover, they must voice the name of the one who ordered his detention. The death of Dulat Agadil demonstrates open terror against civil activists of Kazakhstan, ”concluded Mamai.
