Tokayev: construction of US military base in Kazakhstan is out of question

Astana. June 3. KazTAG - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has declared that construction of the US military base in Kazakhstan is out of question, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.
"Construction of the US military base in Kazakhstan is out of question. At the same time, cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States has been successfully developing in such strategic spheres as energy, investments, technologies," he said in the interview to the newspaper.
He said Kazakhstan has been in constant contact "concerning disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons".
“We also worked in the field of biological safety on the base of the former anti-plague institute in Almaty, but the contract expired and the Americans left the reference laboratory, only Kazakhstani specialists work there at the expense of our budget. Given the relevance of research in this area, we are ready for the most transparent cooperation with Russian specialists," he said.
